Where to Stay in Grenada: Laluna Resort Review

Some hotels make the trip easier. A few make the trip quieter, slower, and more memorable. Laluna in Grenada falls into the second group.
Grenada has plenty of places to stay, especially around Grand Anse, where the islandās best-known beach puts you close to restaurants, shops, and boat trips. Laluna feels different. It sits tucked into a small cove in St. Georgeās, close enough to Grand Anse to be practical, but removed enough to feel like you have slipped away from the busiest part of the island.

This review covers what it was like to stay in one of Lalunaās cottages, including the setting, the room, the beach, the food, and the small details which influenced the experience. If you are deciding where to stay in Grenada, especially for a quiet couplesā trip, honeymoon, anniversary, or low-key Caribbean escape, this should help you decide whether Laluna fits your style. For us, Laluna, Grenada was the ideal place to indulge in total relaxation.

Laluna Review: A Secluded Couple's Hideaway & Location GuideāWhy South Grenada Works Best
Laluna Boutique Hotel is in the St. Georgeās area, set near the southwest coast of Grenada. That matters because the southwest is one of the most convenient parts of the island for visitors. It keeps you near the airport, Grand Anse Beach, restaurants, dive shops, boat tours, and the capital, while still giving you access to quiet pockets of coastline.

Laluna doesn't feel like a large resort, and it doesn't try to be one. The charming boutique hotel is intimate, with its low-rise setting, and built around a relaxed beach rhythm. You come here for privacy, warm service, and a location that feels tucked away rather than over-programmed. I personally enjoyed the daily beachfront Pilates and yoga classes.

Laluna is nestled on Portici Beach, and the setting is ideal. The beach cove feels sheltered, with soft sand, light waves, and a sense of separation from the busier resort zones nearby. It almost feels like a hidden secret not many know aboutāa can't-miss hidden-gem hotel, only a few get to experience. The property only has 16 cottages and a couple family villas.

What stood out right away was the Balinese-inspired decor and boho-chic allure. There was no grandiose lobby scene, no long walk through a crowded complex, and no sense that the hotel was trying to impress with size. Lalunaās first impression was softer and more personal. Arriving felt like stepping into someoneās polished, private island retreat.
Eclectic decor at Luluna Boutique Hotel and Villas Boho-chic lifestyle at Laluna Grenada. Eclectic decor and boho-chic style at Laluna.
That style will not suit everyone. If you want a high-energy resort with multiple restaurants, a packed activity schedule, nightly entertainment, and a wide choice of pools, Laluna may feel too quiet. If you want space, a beautiful beach, and a place where the day revolves around swimming, reading, eating well, and lingering on your cottage deck, the hotel makes a strong case. We enjoyed long days of peaceful bliss at Laluna.
Enjoying the secluded privacy Laluna offers. Laluna overlooking Portici Beach. Secluded hidden gem boutique hotels in Grenada.
The location also keeps you from feeling cut off. Grand Anse (named one of the most beautiful Caribbean beaches) is close by, so you can still go out for a beach walk, casual food, or shopping. St. Georgeās is close enough for a visit, and the airport transfer is usually straightforward compared with staying farther north or east on the island. We used the app Haylup every time we needed a ride in Grenada, and it worked just like Uber back home.
That mix is one of Lalunaās biggest strengths. It gives you the feel of a secluded hidden gem without fully taking you away from the practical side of a Grenada trip.
The Cottage Experience: Private, Simple, and Slow Mornings
The cottage was the core of the stay. Lalunaās rooms are individual cottages rather than standard hotel rooms, and that setup changes the whole mood. You get more privacy, more outdoor space, and a stronger sense that your room is a retreat, beyond a place to sleep. Every cottage also has its own private plunge poolāwhich we enjoyed every night with a glass of wine. The water was warm enough-even for nightly dips!

The design leans rustic-luxe rather than glossy. Think natural textures, warm wood, soft lighting, and indoor-outdoor living. It is not the kind of room that feels sealed off from its setting. You are always aware of the hillside, the sea air, the vegetation, and the weather.
That is part of the charm. The boho-chic eclectic decor and bird's-eye hilltop views made us feel like we were part of our surroundings. I personally enjoyed the chirping of birds at all hours of the day. Laluna is one of those hotels in Grenada that feels more like a beach home.

Our cottage's private deck and plunge pool were a nice addition to our stay. It was not about doing laps or having a dramatic infinity pool moment. It was about slipping into the water before breakfast, cooling off after time on the beach, and sitting outside in the evening with nowhere else to be. If this sounds like paradise, it's because it is!
Every room comes with a fridge of local beer and Italian wine for purchase. Relaxing after a beach swim and before heading down to dinner.
That kind of private outdoor space is what makes Laluna especially appealing for couples and a romantic stay in Grenada. You can spend a full morning on the deck, in the plunge pool, and at the beach without feeling like you need to chase an itinerary.
The Cottage Layout and Essential Amenities
The room was comfortable, but it was not designed like a big modern suite. Lalunaās cottages are more open and relaxed, with an emphasis on setting and atmosphere. The space worked well for unpacking, sleeping, lounging, and spending time outside.

The cottage's overall mood was calm. We had a fan and AC, which in Grenada's hot climate became the perfect retreat from the sun. I loved how we could slip in and out of the room whenever we needed some air conditioning. Grenada hotels with amenities are a plus when deciding where to stay on the Islandāhaving AC made our stay more comfortable.

This is also where expectations matter. Laluna is a boutique hotel, not a new-build luxury tower. The appeal comes from character, privacy, and location. Some finishes may feel more natural or weathered than ultra-polished, depending on the cottage and season. That did not take away from the stay for us, but it is helpful to know before booking.

The bathroom setup had the relaxed, tropical feel you expect from this type of property. If you love sleek marble, bright vanity lighting, and a fully enclosed resort bathroom, you may prefer a more conventional luxury hotel. If you like spaces that feel tied to the island, Lalunaās style makes sense. Laluna provides the ideal boho-chic escape.

A few cottage details matter if you are choosing between room types or comparing Grenada accommodations at Laluna Boutique Hotel and Villas:
Ask about the view
Some cottages may have stronger sea views than others. If the view matters to you, ask directly before booking. For us, cottage 13 offered a fantastic bird's-eye view.

Think about steps and slopes
Laluna is built into a natural setting. If mobility is a concern, ask the hotel which cottage is easiest to access. They also have some ground-level accommodations. To reach most upper-level cottages, you'll need to climb stairs or use the street-side walk.

Decide how much polish you need
The decor is relaxed and intimate. It is not a high-gloss resort experience.

The Beach and Location: Quiet Bay vs. Grand Anse
Lalunaās beach (Portici Beach) is not the longest or most famous beach in Grenada. Grand Anse has that title, and for good reason. Grand Anse is broad, beautiful, and ideal for long walks. Lalunaās beach offers something else: intimacy. We felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves every time we went swimming, and we loved the hidden-gem charm.

The cove feels protected and quiet. The sand is soft, the water is inviting, and the whole beach has an easy, unhurried mood. It is the kind of place where you can bring a book, order a drink, swim, nap, and repeat without feeling like you should be somewhere else.
Because the beach is smaller, it feels more connected to the hotel. You don't have to cross a road or navigate a huge complex to reach the water. The restaurant, bar, loungers, and cottages all sit within the same small world. That makes the property easy to settle into.
This is one reason Laluna works so well if you are searching for where to stay in Grenada as a couple. It creates a contained experience without feeling artificial. You still feel like you are in Grenada, but the hotel wraps the day in a calm routine. The hotel also offers villa-style accommodations for groups or families visiting Grenada and looking for a place to stay.

The beach also gives Laluna a strong sense of place. Grenada is lush, hilly, and less built-up than some Caribbean islands. Lalunaās setting reflects that. It doesn't feel like a resort you could copy and pasted anywhere. The cove, the greenery, and the hillside cottages make the stay feel specific to this corner of the island. We saw epic sunsets on this beach!

Water conditions can change, as they do anywhere in the Caribbean, but the cove often feels gentle. It is a good beach for floating, cooling off, snorkeling, and spending time close to shore. Most of the sand is soft, but there are some light rocks and seashells.
For travelers comparing hotels in Grenada, Laluna stands out from larger properties. You do not book it for variety. You book it for a certain mood. The beach is small, quiet, and deeply relaxing. As a boutique hotel, it offers a more curated space.
It is close to Grand Anse, but the feel is completely different
One of the best parts of staying at Laluna is enjoying a peaceful base without giving up access to Grand Anse. If you want a broader beach scene, more restaurant options, or a long walk on one of Grenadaās most famous stretches of sand, it is nearby.
How far is Laluna Resort from Grand Anse Beach?
Laluna Resort is located approximately 1.6 to 2.6 miles (2.5 to 4.2km) south of Grand Anse Beach, about a 5-to 10-minute drive. Tucked quietly behind Morne Rouge Bay (BBC Beach), Laluna offers a peaceful atmosphere while remaining conveniently close to Grand Anse's major dining and shopping hubs.
Transportation Modes from Laluna to Grand Anse:
By Taxi: A local taxi is the fastest and most convenient option, taking 5 to 8 minutes and costing around $10 to $15 USD. Haylup works like Uber in Grenada.
By Rental Car / Scooter: Driving yourself takes about 5 minutes via the main southern road. Parking near the central access points of Grand Anse Beach is accessible and free.
On Foot (Walking): Walking between Laluna and Grand Anse takes roughly 20 to 25 minutes. It is a scenic route over Morne Rouge, though comfortable walking shoes are recommended due to warm temperatures and slight inclines.
By Local Minibus (Reggae Bus): You can catch Route 1 minibusses along the main Grand Anse Road for around $2.50 XCD ($1 USD). However, because Laluna sits on a secluded side road in Morne Rouge, the bus will drop you off on the main road, leaving you a short 10-minute walk down to the resort.

Then you can return to Laluna and feel like you have escaped again.
That contrast matters. Some travelers like staying directly on Grand Anse because it is convenient and lively by island standards. Others prefer to visit Grand Anse but sleep somewhere quieter. Laluna is ideal for the second type of trip.
It also works well if you plan to rent a car or use taxis to explore. Grenada is worth seeing beyond the beach. Waterfalls, spice estates, viewpoints, and local food stops can all add texture to the trip. Laluna gives you an easy place to return to after those outings. We love using Discover Cars (a search engine that gives you the best car rental rates) every time we travel. We highly recommend checking out the best rates available in Grenada through them below. If you want to use taxis, the Haylup app works exactly like Uber in Grenada.
Dining, Wellness, and the On-Site Vibe
Food can shape a hotel stay more than people expect. At Laluna, the restaurant is part of the propertyās identity. The food style has an Italian influence, which fits the hotelās personality. Meals felt unhurried and intimate, especially at dinner when the beach setting became softer and quieter. I personally ordered the catch-of-the-day daily!
Italian Open-Air Restaurant & Atmosphere

Breakfast set the day's tone. Starting slowly by the water makes a small hotel feel even more personal. Rather than rushing through a buffet in a crowded room, breakfast at Laluna felt like part of the experience. We had freshly squeezed juice featuring a local fruit of the day. I got to try their passion fruit juice, which was my favorite!
The lunch menu is similar to the dinner menu. You get fresh seafood platters, pasta dishes, soups, salads, and a great selection of cocktails and Italian wine.

Dinner was best when treated as a slow evening, not just a meal. The setting does a lot of the work. You are near the sand, the lighting is soft, and the whole property seems to settle down after dark. You can see amazing sunsets from here if you sit on the edge.
š½ļø Dining Tip: The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But closes from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, so plan accordingly. Small bites are available at the bar during those hours.
The service style at Laluna matched the property. It was warm and low-key rather than formal. Staff were present when needed, but the hotel did not feel overly managed or scripted. Instead, it was more of a go-with-the-flow / island-mode vibe.
Lalunaās best service moments were the simple ones: help when we needed it, privacy when we did not, and a general sense that the staff understood the quiet mood guests came for.
The Asian Spa and Wellness Retreat
Laluna is also known for its wellness atmosphere, including spa treatments, Pilates, and yoga. We did it all and truly relaxed.
The Forest Path to the Spa
The spa area is tucked at the back of the hotel, in a secluded area. The space feels intimate, welcoming, and calming. Many pathways lead to the spa; we preferred the forest route, which took us past some really cool art installations and even a wishing tree!
Spa Treatments
Laluna's spa is an Asian-inspired sanctuary retreat. We both got a traditional couples Balinese massage, and it was amazing! The treatment is a little pricey at $115 per person plus a 25% automatic gratuity. Still, we decided to splurge anyway and even contemplated going back the next day for round twoāthey were that amazing!
Lalunaās wellness appeal is softer. It comes from the setting, the beach, the cottage privacy, the open-air feeling, and the ease of slowing down. We decided to surrender and take it all in! Our masseuses were from Bali, which reminded us of our trip there 6 years prior. We also had Balinese massages in Bali, and they were just as good!

Pilates and Yoga
Laluna Boutique Hotel and Villas offers daily complimentary yoga to all its guests. On select mornings, they offer Pilates. We loved finding yoga mats in our cottage when we arrived and took a couple of classes. The best part is that the yoga/meditation temple is beachfront but covered by a ceiling, so it provides shade all day. You can practice solo or in a group class setting. I personally did both and enjoyed my morning meditations overlooking Portici Beach and the Caribbean Sea. If you're into yoga, Laluna is where to stay in Grenada.
Essential Tips Before Booking Laluna Grenada
Laluna is one of the best hotels Grenada offers for a very specific kind of traveler. It is romantic, small, quiet, and beach-focused, with a spa and yoga temple.
If you are comparing Laluna Boutique Hotel with larger hotels Grenada Caribbean travelers often consider, start by deciding what kind of stay you want. Do you want a full-service resort with lots of dining choices and a bigger pool scene? Or do you want an intimate hotel where your cottage, beach, and restaurant create most of the experience?
Laluna is stronger on the second.
Who is it Best For? (Couples & Privacy Seekers)
The property has a romantic feel without being showy. The cottages, private plunge pools, beach cove, and small scale all point toward couples, but villas are also available for large groups and families. During our stay at Laluna, we mostly saw couples.
It would be a strong fit for:
Honeymoons and anniversary trips
Quiet birthday escapes
Couples who want privacy
Travelers who prefer boutique hotels over large resorts
Beach lovers who do not need a huge beach scene
Guests who want to be near Grand Anse without staying directly on it
It may be less ideal for:
Travelers who want nightlife at the hotel
Families looking for lots of kidsā activities
Guests who prefer large pools and multiple restaurants
Anyone who wants a very sleek, modern, high-rise room
Travelers who dislike quiet evenings
Getting Around: Do You Need a Car?
Laluna feels secluded, but it is not remote. That is a major advantage. Still, you will want taxis, a rental car, or arranged transportation if you plan to explore.
Walking is not always the easiest way to get between beaches, restaurants, and attractions in Grenada, especially with hills, narrow roads, and heat. For short stays, taxis may be enough. For a more independent trip, a rental car can be useful, though driving styles and road conditions may feel different from what some US travelers are used to.
Pricing vs. Overall Value
Laluna sits in the luxury boutique category. When judging value, it helps to think about what you are paying for. You are not paying for a huge resort footprint, multiple restaurants, or endless facilities. You are paying for:
Your personal private cottage setup
A less-touristy beach cove location
A quiet boutique hotel atmosphere, still with amenities
An in-cottage plunge pool experience
A romantic, low-density property
Easy access to the southwest coast for exploring the island
Daily complimentary Pilates/yoga classes
Access to the beach within walking distance
Non-motorized water sports equipment (upon availability)
A private gym for those who need to get a workout in
For us, the cottage, the yoga temple, and the beach made the stay feel worthwhile.

What we loved about our stay

šø Quiet beach cove near St. Georgeās

š¹ Better for slow travel and relaxing, rather than packed itineraries and exploring
š¹ Transportation is still needed, or a car rental
š¹ Style is relaxed, not ultra-polished
The best hotel choice in Grenada depends on the trip you want. If you're looking for a boho-chic secluded stay, Laluna is the right fit.
Final Verdict: Should You Stay at Laluna Boutique Hotel
Laluna was exactly the kind of place that grew on us the longer we stayed. The first impression was quiet, secluded, and beautiful, with Balinese-inspired furniture and boho-chic decor. By the end, the details mattered more: the morning light on the cottage deck with an amazing bird's-eye view of the ocean, the plunge pool after the beach, the ease of walking down to the sand, the feeling of being close to Grand Anse but not in the middle of it, and the amazing cocktails paired with the catch of the day.
The hotelās biggest strength is its mood. It gives you privacy without feeling isolated, comfort without feeling generic, and romance without feeling staged. That is not easy to find. We found Laluna Boutique Hotel and Villas to be a hidden gem on the Island.
There are trade-offs. Laluna isn't the place for travelers who want a big resort buzz, lots of dining variety, or a highly polished modern hotel room. It asks you to slow down and enjoy a smaller world for a few days. If that sounds limiting, choose somewhere larger. If that sounds like a relief, Laluna may be one of the most memorable hotels in Grenada, West Indies, for your trip. We personally prefer boutique hotels over large resorts when we travel.
For a couplesā escape, Laluna Grenada is easy to recommend. The cottage stay made the hotel feel personal, and the beach cove gave the whole trip a tucked-away quality that matched what we wanted from Grenada.
For us, Laluna was not just where we stayed in GrenadaāIt was the part of the trip that made everything else feel slower, softer, and easier to enjoy. I hope this guide was helpful. Thanks so much for reading. Till next time!

Pin it for late!
